Development and financing of start-ups specialized in Artificial Intelligence :

  • 2.2 billion invested in AI startups in 2017 in Europe, three times more than in 2016.

  • Government funding plan, particularly in France, with an investment plan of €1.5 billion planned for the deployment of this technology on the territory, funded by the Innovation Fund.

Who benefits from such investments ?

  • The research. At the heart of investment needs, R&D should be the first pole of investment in Artificial Intelligence: between funding laboratories and openings of training in AI, the goal is to develop knowledge in the country.

  • Start-ups. By investing massively in R&D, the objective is to enable companies to benefit from the know-how at the service of their activity. Thus, the process of bringing together companies and research entities (academies, laboratories) is facilitated. The process of creating a start-up is also simplified.

In what areas ?

Artificial Intelligence technology is developing mainly in three areas :

    Finance

Using chatbots on online banking interfaces to enhance customer experience, helping advisors in their strategic decisions, detecting fraudulent transactions, supporting market finance… Artificial Intelligence has many uses in finance. Startups have understood this. Today, a whole ecosystem of startups specialized in FinTech is emerging.

    The health

Today, healthcare is one of the most dynamic sectors in R&D and AI applications. From medical diagnostics to early detection of diseases, it is a real help to health specialists.

    The security

Image analysis and detection is one of the favorite fields of Artificial Intelligence, especially through facial recognition. So it’s not surprising that security is a key application area for AI.
